AFCAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit, Education Qualification & Nationality

Tabulated below are the primary eligibility requirements that the candidates must possess to be eligible to sit for the exam.

Age (as on 01-01-2022)

Flying Branch :

 The maximum age limit must be 24 whereas the minimum age can be 20 years.

Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) :

The maximum age limit must be 26 where as the minimum age can be 20 years.


The candidate needs to be an Indian citizen.

Educational Qualification

Flying branch
The candidate must have done graduation with aggregate 60% in any discipline with physics and maths in 10+2 level or BE / B Tech degree (Four-year course) from a recognized University

Technical branch (ground duty)
The candidate must have done a four-year graduation course in engineering/technology.
Must obtain 60% marks in Section A & B examination of the Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

Non-technical (Ground duty)
The candidate must have done graduation in any discipline with 60% marks and in section A and B examination of aeronautical society India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).


Ground Duty Technical Branch- Minimum height for both gender: 157.5 Cms
Ground duty Non-Technical Branch- Male-157.5 cms and Female-152 cms

AFCAT 2021 Syllabus


English Section:

This section of AFCAT Exam consist of at least 20 questions and level is from moderate to difficult. Questions would be asked from comprehension, cloze test, synonym and antonym, idioms and phrases, Error spotting.


General Knowledge:

This section consist of questions from Indian History, Polity, Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Current Affairs. The level of difficulty of this section is from easy to moderate.


Reasoning Section:

Questions would be asked from Series, Venn Diagram, Syllogism, Blood Relation, Non Verbal questions, Verbal reasoning, military aptitude etc.


Quantitative Aptitude Section:

The questions that are asked in the Mathematics sections of AFCAT are of Easy to Moderate level and questions would be asked from Number system, HCF and LCM, Time, Distance and Speed, Time and Work, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Average, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Pipes And Cistern etc.
