The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam to recruit Higher Secondary qualified students for various government departments and offices. The exam offers several posts, including Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, and Data Entry Operator.

Candidates are selected for these posts through a computer-based test, a descriptive paper, and a Skill Test or Typing Test. This exam is held annually for recruitment in various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of the Government of India

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 

The official announcement lists the requirements for eligibility. To be eligible for the SSC CHSL in 2023, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A candidate must either be of an Indian nationality or
  • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan,
  • Tibetan refugee,
  • A person of Indian origin

Age, nationality, and academic qualifications are the three main eligibility requirements for the SSC CHSL. The complete eligibility criteria are as follows:

Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian citizen or ought to belong to Nepal/ Bhutan or Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to forever settling in India.

Educational Criteria: Candidates should have cleared or appeared in class 12 or its equivalent from a recognized educational board or University.

Age Criteria: Age should be between 18 and 27 as of January 1, 2023. However, certain reserved category candidates can claim for reservation, according to the Indian government norms. Further specifically, the aspirants must not be born before 2 January 1995 and not later than 1 January 2004.

Permissible relaxation in the upper age limit for different categories are as below:

SSC CHSL Registration & Application Method

Candidates can apply for the SSC CHSL 2023 exam online at the Commission’s official website. They can fill out the SSC CHSL online form in two sections: Registration and Applications.

Registration

The SSC CHSL 2023 online registration started from 6th December , 2022. Interested candidates can register for Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination on the official website @ssc.nic.in. of SSC.

The first step for applicants is to register on the SSC website. For the same, applicants must go to the website’s home page and click the “New User? Register Now” link. There, they must complete the registration form by entering all the necessary information regarding their name, contact information, and educational background. In addition, candidates must now upload scanned copies of their IDs and signatures. The form fill-up method completes with the applying fee payment method.

Application

Below are important points to consider when applying for SSC CHSL Examination:

  • The SSC CHSL application fee is Rs. 100/-.
  • Female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Serviceman applicants are excluded from paying the fee, therefore they do not need to.
  • Both offline and online payment options are available for application costs.

SSC CHSL 2023 Admit Card

The commission will publish the SSC CHSL Admit Card 10–15 days before to the examination.
